WHEN CAN I MOVE UP TO THE INTERMEDIATE LEVEL

Leveling Up to Intermediate at Symmetry

Progressing to Intermediate Pilates isn’t about rushing, it’s about readiness. Pilates is a method, and each exercise builds on the one before it. Time, repetition, and consistency allow your body to learn the work with control and intention.

Before moving into Intermediate classes, we look for balanced strength, stability, coordination, and an understanding of the fundamentals. This ensures you’re not just doing the exercises, but truly moving well.

Ways to Level Up

  • Take a variety of class formats to experience different equipment and challenges, including Reformer Flow, Tower, Mixed Equipment, and Chair. Each apparatus develops the body in a unique way.
  • Add Private Sessions to refine your technique and receive individualized guidance, helping you move toward your goals more efficiently.

At Symmetry, progression is thoughtful and designed to help you feel strong, capable, and aligned every step of the way .

What’s the difference between Equipment Pilates, Reformer, Mat, and Barre?
  • Equipment Pilates: Refers to a variety of equipment used in the Pilates method including the Tower, Reformer, Chair, Cadillac and Barrel.
  • Reformer Pilates: Uses a specialized Pilates apparatus with springs and pulleys for adjustable resistance and a full-body workout.
  • Mat Pilates: Performed on a mat using bodyweight and small props to strengthen, lengthen, and improve mobility.
  • Barre / Bootybarre: A ballet-inspired workout that blends Pilates, dance, and strength training for toning and balance.
How many times a week should I do Pilates?

We always advise you to listen to your body but these are general guidelines! You can do more or less:

  • Beginners: Start with 2-3 classes per week, then build to 4-6 for strength and consistency.
  • Advanced/long-term clients: Up to 6 days a week — many make it part of their daily routine.
Do you offer modifications for injuries or limitations?

Yes, most exercises can be modified in a group setting by our expert instructors for all ages and levels.

For specific or current injuries, we recommend taking a private session first.

Please note: If your condition or injuries prevent you from safely joining group, we may require private sessions for your safety before joining group classes.

How often should I take Pilates to see results?

You’ll feel benefits even once a week, but a minimum of 2–3 times per week delivers the best results! Make it part of your everyday routine and see your body make the ultimate transformation.

Is there an age requirement?

Yes — clients must be 16 or older to join group classes. A parent or guardian must be present to sign membership paperwork.

What happens if I’m late to class?

We allow a 5-minute grace period. Arrivals after 5 minutes will be considered a no-show, and fees will apply. This is for your safety and to avoid disrupting the class.
